Made from tree branches and toilet paper rolls a reindeer

Put to use your empty toilet paper rolls and fallen branches by making this reindeer craft. It’s the perfect way to decorate your home for Christmas while getting to spend time with your little ones. Sticks are one of those things that are everywhere and you just don’t know what to do with. Making this craft is one way to repurpose things like sticks and toilet paper rolls.

WITH THIS PROJECT YOUR CHILD WILL LEARN…

  • What a reindeer is
  • What the color brown is

WE LOVED MAKING THIS REINDEER TO DECORATING THE HOUSE. HERE IS WHAT WE USED TO MAKE IT:

  • Two empty toilet paper rolls
  • Sticks from a tree branch
  • Brown craft paint
  • Two big googly eyes
  • One large red pom pom
  • Paint brush
  • Hot glue
  • Scissors

The first thing you are going to do is paint both toilet paper rolls brown.

Painting an empty toilet paper roll brown

Next glue the two googly eyes and red pom pom onto one of the toilet paper rolls.

Toilet paper roll painted brown and added googly eyes with a red pom pom.

Then have your little ones go out and gather up some sticks and branches. Try and find sticks or branches that look like deer antlers as shown below.

After you have gathered your sticks cut the sticks to size to make 4 legs, 1 short piece for the neck, and 2 “forked” pieces for the antlers.

Next, using your scissors carefully poke two holes into the top of the toilet paper roll. Glue your antlers in those holes.

Then you are going to take your other toilet paper roll and use your scissors to poke four holes in the bottom for your reindeer’s legs. Glue the legs in place.

Sticks added to a toilet paper roll to make a reindeer body.

Lastly, poke a hole in the top of one end of the toilet paper roll that is the body of the reindeer. Then poke a hole in the bottom of the head of the reindeer. Take the smallest stick (the neck) and push an end through each hole, attaching the head of the reindeer to the body. Glue the stick in place.

Now stand him up!

Your reindeer is now finished and ready to spread some Christmas cheer!
