Paper Pumpkin glitter Garland

Make this paper pumpkin garland for your mantle, porch, or any place in your home that needs a little touch of fall. This arts and craft project is the perfect way to get your little ones into the fall spirt and excited about Autumn. It’s an easy and affordable way to decorate your house and spend some time doing something fun with your grandkids or kids. We’ve even included a pumpkin pattern for you to use as a template for your kids to trace onto orange construction paper and cut out. Your child or grandchild will be very proud to see their paper pumpkin glitter garland hanging in their home as part of your harvest decorating!

WITH THIS PROJECT YOUR CHILD WILL LEARN…

  • What a pumpkin is
  • How to cut out a pumpkin shape
  • How to apply glitter
  • What the color orange is
  • How to hang garland

HERE ARE THE SUPPLIES WE USED TO MAKE OUR GLITTER PAPER PUMPKIN GARLAND:

  • Orange construction paper
  • Glitter paint or loose glitter
  • Black yarn
  • Glue
  • Child Safety scissors

You are welcome to use our free Pumpkin Pattern.

The first thing you are going to do is cut out a pumpkin shape out of orange construction paper. Remember that pumpkins come in all different shapes and sizes so if your child’s pumpkin doesn’t come out perfect that is ok. If you prefer use our pumpkin pattern for guidance. If you are making this project with a toddler, make sure you do the cutting. They may be too young to even use child safety scissors. Make 6-10 pumpkins. After your pumpkins are cut, using glitter paint or glue and loose glitter, apply it to the front of the pumpkin.

Once your pumpkins are dry, either tape or glue yarn to the back of your pumpkin. Place the pumpkins at an equal distance between each of them. We placed ours 5″ apart. If you wish to make your garland longer simply make more pumpkins!

Your paper pumpkin garland is now finished and ready to be hung up for fall! Have your child help you in the process of hanging it up. My grand daughters who are 3 years old and 19 months old are constantly “helping me” decorate by moving my fall and Halloween pillows, and crafts around!

I hope making this fun fall arts and craft paper pumpkin garland glitter craft has brought some joy and happiness to you and your children or grand children.
