painting the word love onto rocks

Your little ones will LOVE making these painted Valentine’s Day Rocks! This simple craft dates very far back to the American Indians painting rocks. Kids will have fun searching for the rocks, cleaning them, and then painting them. Have them be creative and each make their rocks in their favorite Valentine saying, like “Hug Me”, or “I Love You”, or “Love”.

YOU WILL LOVE MAKING THESE VALENTINE PAINTED ROCKS WITH YOUR GRANDKIDS! HERE IS WHAT WE USED TO MAKE THEM:

  • rocks
  • pink and black paint
  • basic arts and crafts supplies

Painted Valentine’s Day Saying Rocks – Step 1

Make sure the rocks are clean and dry. Paint the rocks pink. You will want to cover the top AND the bottom of the rocks with pink paint, so paint one side, let it dry, then flip and paint the rest.

After the paint is dry, paint one letter on each rock in black paint, spelling LOVE or what ever Valentine saying you prefer. Let dry. On the bottom of the one rock have your child write his/her name and the date in black paint. If you want to protect the surface the rocks are going on, hot glue a small piece of felt on the bottom of each rock.

Your Painted Valentine’s Day Saying Rocks are now finished and ready to be displayed!
