You know its spring time when the spring peepers are nice and loud outside, and critters and bugs start coming out of their winter homes to greet us. Here’s a cute “Welcome Spring” craft you can make with the kids using an empty toilet paper roll.

THESE ADORABLE LITTLE CRITTERS ARE THE PERFECT CRAFT TO MAKE WITH YOUR GRANDKIDS THIS SPRING! HERE IS WHAT WE USED TO MAKE IT:

  • pompoms
  • popsicle stick
  • toilet paper roll
  • green paper
  • googly eyes
  • glitter
  • basic arts & crafts supplies

Pompom Critter on Log – Step 1

First paint the toilet paper roll with brown paint. Let dry. Glue the popsicle stick to the bottom of the toilet paper roll. This helps keep the log in place and not roll.

Cut out a leaf from the green paper. Glue the leaf onto the top of the toilet paper roll.

Next glue 3 pompoms together. Glue the googly eyes onto one of the pompoms to make your bugs face. Glue the pompom bug onto the paper leaf on top of the toilet paper roll.

Pompom Critter on Log – Step 4

Glue googly eyes onto another single pompom. Glue the pompom onto the inside of one end of the toilet paper roll, as if the little bug is peeking out.

Last, spread a little glue on the paper leaf with a paint brush, sprinkle on some green glitter and let dry.

You are now finished and can make lots of little critters and bugs from pompoms and create your own little forest of bugs.
