Spring and Easter means we will see little spring chicks hoping around!  These baby chicks are made from recycled egg cartons! What a fun project to do with your kids this Easter.

MAKING THESE LITTLE CHICKS IS FUN FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY THIS EASTER! HERE IS WHAT WE USED TO MAKE THEM:

  • empty egg carton
  • yellow paint (child-safe, non toxic)
  • black marker
  • yellow and orange construction paper
  • basic arts & crafts supplies

Egg Carton Spring Chicks – Step 1

Start by cutting 2 cups from the egg carton for each chick you want to make. Trim them neatly and evenly.

Egg Carton Spring Chicks – Step 2

Paint the egg cups yellow inside and out. Let dry. Cut 2 small triangles from the orange construction paper for the beak for each chick. Cut them out leaving an extra length for a tab on the end. From the yellow construction paper cut out 2 triangles for wings also leaving a tab, 2 for each chick.

Egg Carton Spring Chicks – Step 3

Cut out feet, 2 for each chick from the orange construction paper. Cut out small strips of paper, two for each chick. Use these as hinges to connect the egg carton cups together. Use one strip on the outside on the back of the chick, and one on the inside. Secure with glue and/or tape. Then fold the tabs of the triangles on the beaks and wings, attach them with glue by the tabs to the insides of the egg cups. One orange triangle on each top and bottom of the front of the egg cups, and one wing on each side of the bottom egg cup.

Egg Carton Spring Chicks – Step 4

Glue the feet onto the bottom of the egg cup. Last, use the black marker to draw eyes on your chicks.

You now have some adorable little chickadees to display around your house this spring and Easter!
