Head to the craft closet and gather simple supplies to make this adorable Leprechaun hat with your grandkids. They loved pretending to wear these hats all around especially because we made them together. These little green Leprechaun hats would also make great center pieces for a Luck of the Irish Saint Patrick’s day Party! Write a name on each one and use them as a name plate on your green table setting.

YOUR GRANDKIDS WILL LOVE THIS LEPRECHAUN HAT MADE FROM A STYROFOAM CUP! HERE IS WHAT WE USED TO MAKE IT:

  • styrofoam cup
  • paper plate
  • black and green construction paper
  • green craft paint
  • gold and green pipe cleaners
  • green glitter
  • craft glue
  • basic arts and crafts supplies

Styrofoam Cup Leprechaun Hat – Step 1

First paint the outside of the cup green, set aside to dry.

Next cut the center out of a paper plate into a circle for the bottom of the hat. Paint it green, set aside to dry.

Styrofoam Cup Leprechaun Hat – Step 3

Draw and cut out a three leaf clover from green construction paper. Spread a thin layer of glue on the clover, sprinkle on green glitter, set aside to dry.

Styrofoam Cup Leprechaun Hat – Step 4

Then cut a strip of black paper for a band to go around the hat. Wrap the strip around the center of the cup, secure with tape or glue.

Now turn the cup upside down, glue onto the green circle you cut and painted from the paper plate. Cut a green pipe cleaner, and a gold pipe cleaner, in half. Tape or glue the clover onto one end of the green pipe cleaner. Stick it in the top of the hat (poke it right through the cup) so it sticks up out of the hat. Bend the gold pipe cleaner into a square, to form a buckle. Tape it onto the center of the black band on the hat.

Finally, spread a thin layer of glue onto the edge of the paper plate circle (the bottom of the hat). Sprinkle on green glitter and let dry.

Your Styrofoam Cup Leprechaun Hat is now finished and ready to be enjoyed by your entire family!
