These adorable little egg carton Valentine Love Bugs are fun to make, and the kids will love writing their own Valentine messages on them. Everyone in the family can make their very own love bug and even give it to someone special.

YOUR LOVE BUGS WILL LOVE MAKING THEIR VERY OWN LOVE BUGS THIS VALENTINE’S DAY! HERE IS WHAT WE USED TO MAKE OURS:

  • empty egg carton (one for each love bug)
  • red and pink craft paint
  • googly eyes
  • basic arts and crafts supplies

Love Bug – Step 1

First cut out cups from the egg carton. You will need one cup for each bug you want to make. Cut the cups so that it looks like four legs, as shown in the photo. Turn the cups so the opening is face-down. Now use your scissors to poke two small holes in the top front of each egg cup. These are what the pipe cleaner antennae will go in.

Love Bug – Step 2

Next paint the cups red and pink.

Love Bug – Step 3

While the paint is drying, cut out three hearts for each love bug from the construction paper. Two will be for the wings and one for the head of the bug. Glue googly eyes onto the rounded top of one of the hearts for each bug. Use a black marker and draw a mouth on each love bug. Cut the pipe cleaner in half, and then in half again. Poke one small piece of pipe cleaner through each of the holes in the egg carton cup. These are the antennae. Roll the ends of the pipe cleaner once around your finger to curl them. Write Valentine’s day messages on the wings.

Love Bug – Step 4

Last glue the bugs face to the front of the egg cup, and glue one wing onto each side of the bug.

Your adorable little love bugs are now finished and ready to spread some love this Valentine’s Day!
